Hey guys! A bit of blogger’s / online recipe developer’s article today for sharing content. So if you just want a recipe thank you very much, head on over to my latest favorite cake recipe! Or this all time favorite recipe for skinny sweet potato chips!
Ok, so for those of you who want to know which food gawker alternatives they should be submitting to and why, I have the best info ever. Bear with.
I always submit to a top couple favorites, foodgawker, healthy aperture, findingvegan (if appropriate) tastetology, and foodyub. These are the sites which I have had time to try out, and have performed well in terms of referral traffic for new recipes. But I know that there are host of other recipe sharing / indexing / aggregate sites out there. I really wanted to start submitting to more, but which ones??????
Firstly it take quite a lot of time to submit to a long list of sites – and second some of them can be a more cumbersome than others. Dessertstalking for example wants you to list all the ingredients, cooking time etc. Which is pretty cool – but I would rather spend that time making a recipe, seeing as it is all on my blog already for those who are interested.
Long story short, I REALLY wanted to know which of these ‘lesser foodgawkers’ were the most important to include in my submissions list.
In a flash of wisdom, I ended up on Alexa.com, where you can check out how popular websites are with their traffic analysis tool. I investigated each of the indexing sites…. And here is what I came up with!
Traffic Rankings Comparison of Foodgawker Alternatives
As you can see, foodgawker obviously tops the list, with tastespotting coming second and so on. With some surprising placements along the way!
Foodgawker 12 000
Tastespotting 32 000
Food Porn Daily 45 000
My Recipe Magic 51 000
Finding Vegan 60 000
Healthy Aperture 76 000
My Taste 97 000
Fridgg 127 000
Foodyub 157 000
Yumgoggle 168 000
Dishfolio 193 000
Delishbook 421 000
Food Photo Gallery 422 000
RecipeChart 671 000
Dessertstalking 719 000
Food Spreading 4 000 000
Foodie Portal 5 000 000
Are you surprised? I was!
So now, what I did with this list, is I have selected the top sites as places I really want to submit to. Then the middle range fits into a category of ‘if I have time’. And the last few that are ranked pretty low – I do not think I am going to bother with for now.
To give you an idea, foodyub always brings me decent traffic. Nothing to write home about, but definitely nice if you are busy growing your blog. So I am going to submit to the other sites around that range aswell and see how they do.
I am soo glad I do not have to bother rewriting my recipe for dessertstalker anymore! Phew, things are looking up ; )
I hope this post was a helpful resource for your guys, and if you have any questions or further input please hit me up in the comments.
P.S. In my hunt to compile a full and informed list of sites I want to submit food photos to, I read a lot of the informative ’30 Alternatives to Foodgawker’ articles. Many of these types of food aggregate sites seemed to have opened up and closed down again – so this is my full list of all of the ones I found which are active and still exist. But if there are any I have missed that you know about, please let me know and I will add them in.
Note: These Alexa rankings were taken in the 4th day of May, 2017. With time they are likely to change.
